SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District officials are responding to an incident involving a contractor crane that tipped over Monday afternoon at Fort Randall Dam.
The crane tipped around 2 p.m. on the bridge deck of the dam’s intake structure, a news release from the Corps of Engineers said. Emergency responders assisted the crane operator, who was taken to a local hospital. No further medical information is available currently, according to officials.
A preliminary review indicates there is no threat to the dam’s structural integrity or to public safety. USACE personnel are working with contractors and local responders to assess the site and determine next steps.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
