SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Three schools in South Dakota have been selected as National Blue Ribbon Schools, a prestigious award for excellent academic performance or for closing achievement gaps.
In a news release by the South Dakota Department of Education, the winning schools were Howard High School, Jones County Middle School and Warner Elementary.
Howard High and Warner Elementary were honored for their high scores in math and English, along with their attendance and graduation rates.
Jones County Middle School was honored for helping students with educational barriers find success with attendance, math and English.
“The work that is being done at Howard High School, Jones County Middle School and Warner Elementary School is a testament to dedicated educators, committed parents, and engaged students who put in the effort to thrive academically, and talented leadership,” said Secretary of Education Joe Graves, in the news release.
All three schools will be individually congratulated for their outstanding performance.
