SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Five people died in a single vehicle crash late Wednesday evening.
The crash happened at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday three miles east of Scenic, SD, which is just west of Badlands National Park.
According to a press release from the Department of Public Safety, the driver of a 2004 Honda Pilot was traveling eastbound on SD Highway 44 near mile marker 90 and failed to negotiate a curve.
The vehicle entered the north ditch and struck a concrete barrier, the vehicle was quickly engulfed in flames.
The driver and four passengers died at the scene. The names of those involved have not been released pending the notification of family members.
The crash is under investigation from the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
