8 discontinued Trader Joe’s products that fans miss the most – including a good protein hack shoppers were ‘scared of’

TRADER Joe’s is known for bringing out delicious new snacks and budget-friendly treats – and many items end up with a cult following.

However, its shoppers are no strangers to heartbreak, as it is also notorious for quietly pulling popular products from its shelves.

From frozen treats to special sausages, the departure of these products leaves many fans pleading for their return.

One superfan, who posts about her favorite finds on her @traderjoeskitchen account, shared eight of the top nostalgia-fueled items she wishes would return.

New York-based Rachael wrote: “Discontinued Trader Joe products I miss the most.”

She joked: “Pour one out for the homies. Gone but never forgotten.”

PANCAKE BREAD

The first item on her list is their Pancake Bread, which is said to be a “twist on a buttermilk short stack” that had been “baked into a sweet, moist loaf.”

The Kitchn previously raved about this, saying: “The bread itself isn’t overtly sweet and precisely tastes like the best buttermilk pancake you’ve ever had in bread form: slightly savory, a little bit sweet from the maple syrup, and totally buttery.

“The bread itself is pillowy soft, which contrasts delightfully with the slight crunch of the sugar crumble on top. Each bite is better than the next.”

AUTUMN HARVEST SAUCE

The next item on Rachael’s list is their Autumn Harvest Alfredo Sauce, which came with pumpkin puree and butternut squash pieces.

The creamy product was said to be the perfect tomato-based sauce for pasta dishes.

It was said that “all those flavors of fall” had been “incorporated here to delicious effect.”

CHILE LIME BURGERS

Their Chili Lime Burgers were full of a tangy lime flavor[/caption]

Trader Joe’s Chile Lime Burgers were a summer barbecue favorite, until they were discontinued in 2022.

The frozen product came with four patties, which would have set you back $3.49 for four, and grew a loyal fan base for their spicy, tangy lime flavor.

The burgers were able to be broiled, barbecued or cooked in a skillet for a sandwich ready to eat in a flash.

CORN & QUINOA SALAD

The second item on her list was their Corn and Quinoa Salad, which was prepared in a Mexican style.

This came with cotija cheese and roast poblano cilantro dressing, along with grape tomatoes, kale, red and green cabbage.

The $4.99 product, which is still listed online, is said to be an ideal side ditch for Mexican entrées such as Chicken Taquitos or Black Bean & Cheese Burritos.

THAI VEGGIE BURGER

The Trader Joe’s fan also lamented the loss of their Thai Sweet Chili Veggie Burgers.

They were said to be “super easy, and fairly decently priced”, at $3.69 for a four pack.

The burgers were also individually frozen and packed, when they were in stock.

AVOCADO TZATZIKI DIP

Another popular item that is now missed is their Avocado Tzatziki Dip.

This treat, which is made from greek yoghurt, avocado, diced cucumber and a hint of jalapeno peppers, was perfect for chips.

The $3.99 dip, which is still listed online, was said to be a “tangy, creamy, and totally addictive fruit of labor.”

CHOCOLATE HUMMUS

One of the most mouth-watering losses is Trader Joe’s Chocolate Hummus, which cost $1.99.

It was made from “cooked chickpeas, tahini, expeller pressed canola oil, & sea salt.”

Many people loved eating it by the spoonful, or as a dip for apples, strawberries, crackers or pretzels.

One social media user said they miss the hummus so much they still look for it every time they go in, to which Rachael replied: “It was soooo good and I think people were scared of it so it didn’t sell well.”

BEEF TACO KIT

Another beloved item was their Beef Sirloin Taco Kit, which made six tacos in total.

The helpful kit included wraps, sirloin beef, guacamole, salsa, shredded cheese and jalapenos.

Many people were quick to comment on Rachael’s list, with one saying: “The Thai veggie burgers were delicious.”

Another added: “NOT THE PANCAKE BREAD!!!! WHY?!??”
