Super Bowl champion left unemployed following brutal Dallas Cowboys roster cut weeks after stealing him from Eagles

THE DALLAS COWBOYS have harshly cut a Super Bowl champion from their roster just weeks after he made the switch from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Wide receiver Parris Campbell won a ring with the Eagles in February, but was subsequently released by the organisation.

The 28-year-old was quickly snapped up from free agency by the Cowboys.

Campbell suffered an MCL sprain injury in late July that saw him placed on injured reserve and subsequently ruled out for the season.

The absence would have taken him to the end of his one-year contract with the Cowboys.

His release was confirmed by the Cowboys on the 5th.

The six-year NFL veteran began his journey playing college football for NCAA giants Ohio State.

He entered the 2019 draft after a senior campaign that saw him notch over 1,000 receiving yards from 90 receptions.

His 4.31 second 40-yard dash turned heads as the joint fastest among wide receivers at the 2019 combine.

He was snagged by the Indianapolis Colts as the 59th overall pick of the draft.

Campbell recorded 18 catches in his rookie season, including a touchdown, despite injury issues.

He missed half the season due to injuries, including a broken foot, broken hand and a sports hernia.

His productivity would fade further in the following seasons with the Colts due to similar injury problems.

In the 2020 season he managed six receptions in two games before an MCL and PCL tear saw him ruled out for the rest of the season.

He featured again on injured reserve in the 2021 campaign and managed just six games.

The first true glimpse of his full ability came in the 2022 season, his first without injury.

He made 63 receptions and appeared in all 17 games for the Colts that year.

These performances earned him a one-year contract with the New York Giants for the 2023 season, where he started in 3 of 12 appearances.

The Philadelphia Eagles saw enough to bring him on board for the 2024 season, where they released the Ohio native before re-signing him to the practice squad.

After being activated to the first-team in October, Campbell played in five games and recorded a touchdown on the Eagles’ journey to the Super Bowl.

His release makes him just the latest example of a promising prospect stunted by injury troubles.

In his six years of NFL experience, he appeared in a total of just 49 games, receiving for 1,117.
