STURGIS, S.D. (KELO) –Toward the back of Buffalo Chip, there’s a place where riders can go back in time and experience what the rally was like 50-years ago.
It’s as easy as pulling up to an open spot and setting up camp as they ride through the dirt.
Pat Patterson of Led Sled Customs from Ohio brings his Sportsters out to the rally every year and he always stays at Camp Zero.
“Out here at Camp Zero I feel like it is just getting back to two wheels, you know that’s all it’s about it just enjoying yourself. Good fun times with people’s creativity and people goofing off and smiles for days you know.” Led Sled Customs Owner Pat Patterson said.
It doesn’t matter where you are from, campers tell us everyone gets along at this old school rally spot.
“You know, Camp Zero, you just get to be a part of it. I’d almost say there’s no such thing as a spectator here at Camp Zero. You’re going to be a part of the fun and the action. You know, we’re going to do dirt drags here in a little bit.” Arkansas Rider Trevor McGuire said
“You can just put a canopy and a mattress and that’s it. You don’t even need a tent or anything, it’s just one of those places where you live it up and that’s it. And everybody’s friendly, that’s another thing, everybody is friendly and everybody says hi to you.” Wisconsin Rider Sonia Pedraza said
Bikers say there’s always a good conversation to be found.
“I wasn’t at Woodstock but I can imagine it’s like Woodstock or something where everybody is super friendly, you’ll probably get handed a burrito and next thing you know they’re probably going to have you on a mini bike or something getting sketchy pretty quick. But it’s a good time for sure.” Patterson said
The camp offers rally riders the opportunity to participate in racing events and other activities every day.
From Sportster bike showcases to mini bike races on a dirt track, as well as a live free attitude this riders get to have help make Camp Zero feel old school.
