Trey Lance gives himself NFL career lifeline with impressive LA Chargers preseason performance – ‘right QB room, no BS’

FANS believe Trey Lance is set for a huge season with the LA Chargers.

The 25-year-old left the Dallas Cowboys after playing just four times last campaign and penned a contract worth up to $2million in California.

Lance has impressed in preseason as the Chargers smashed the Detroit Lions 34-7 in the Hall of Fame Game.

He completed 13 of 20 passes for 120 yards and got two touchdowns.

Things then got better for Lance against the New Orleans Saints over the weekend in a 27-13 victory.

He threw for just 55 yards but ran seven times for a team-high 48 yards.

That is not forgetting his 5-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Taylor Heinicke started the game at quarterback and completed only one of his five passes for 8 yards.

Many believe Lance could make a real impact for the Chargers this season.

He was praised by boss Jim Harbaugh, who said: “I thought he played really good. Good presence, poised and in control.

“Just make the right decisions… that’s really what it comes down to. Not everyone can do it.”

It was Harbaugh returning the compliment after Lance praised him last week.

Lance said: “Having coach Harbaugh, every day you don’t know what you’re going to get and in the best way possible.

“High energy, just a fun guy to be around, fun guy to sit around and talk ball with or talk about life with.

“It’s a great place to be. The guys are joyful, guys love it, coaching staff, players, assistants, everything. It’s just a fun place to play.

“I’ve learned a ton from him. I figure something new about him every day, how he is and how he handles different situations.

“I’ve loved it, I’ve loved being able to just be around him.

“I love when he’s in the quarterback room, when he’s with us on the field.

“He’s always got something and he’s always got a story to come with it so it really hits home when he tells something.”

Lance is also loving having Justin Herbert in the quarterback room.

He said: “It’s been fun to learn from Justin, I think we the game very similarly, play the game very similarly.

“It’s been great to be able to spend time around him and how he is as a person on and off the field.”

ESPN analyst Louis Riddick is one of those expecting big things from Lance this year.

He tweeted: “Trey Lance is with the right program, right Coach, right QB room. No BS. No agendas. He has a chance to see what he can actually now become.”

Fans claimed he is “ready to cook” and more are “rooting for him” after injury issues.
