Lamar Jackson’s dispute with Troy Aikman was over his attempt to trademark ‘EIGHT’[/caption]

It began when Jackson filed to block Aikman’s trademark applications for “EIGHT.” on July 9, 2024.

The No. 8 is associated with both players during their NFL careers.

But Jackson argued that Aikman’s proposed use of “EIGHT” on bags and clothing would confuse fans.

The Ravens quarterback has his own trademarks “ERA 8” and “ERA 8 BY LAMAR JACKSON.”

According to Gerben Law, the matter has now been resolved.

Jackson has filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office to withdraw his opposition to Aikman’s two pending applications.

The withdrawal was also made “with prejudice” meaning Jackson cannot file a similar claim in future.

The pair have agreed to a settlement, the terms of which are confidential.

Jackson, 28, is in training camp ready for another NFL season.

He was a first round pick by the Ravens in 2018 and has been a two-time Most Valuable Player.

But the quarterback desperately wants to finally reach a Super Bowl.

Aikman, meanwhile, now calls Monday Night Football games on ESPN.

The 58-year-old was the No. 1 overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 1989.

He won three Super Bowls during his iconic career with the team.

Aikman works with Joe Buck as part of the lead ESPN broadcast team.

The pair were previously the No. 1 commentary duo on Fox.

Aikman and Buck will be joined by Lisa Salters and Laura Rutledge for MNF in 2025.

The team will call 20 of the 25 regular-season games that ESPN has on the slate.

Their first broadcast will be on September 8 when the Minnesota Vikings against the Chicago Bears.

And Jackson’s Ravens kickoff their season with a huge showdown against the Buffalo Bills on September 7.
