SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A news conference described as a “major” announcement about health care in South Dakota is set for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Canopy Hotel in Sioux Falls.
The announcement will include officials from the USD Sanford School of Medicine as well as representatives from the state’s three largest health care systems, representatives from the South Dakota Board of Regents, (BOR), Gov. Larry Rhoden and Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken, according to an USD news release.

Representatives from USD and the other organizations will outline a new vision for medical education and health care in South Dakota, the news release said.
In addition to Rhoden and TenHaken, the release has a specific list of attendees to include USD President Sheila K. Gestring, BOR President Tim Rave, Sanford School of Medicine Dean Dr. Tim Ridgway, Sanford Health President & CEO Bill Gassen, Avera St. Benedict Health Center FP/OB Physician and Associate Dean of Rural Medicine Dr. Jason Wickersham and Monument Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Brad Archer.
