Rodgers, in full pads, and Roethlisberger in a relaxed summer outfit, were pictured having a friendly discussion on the field as the Steelers practiced with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Both stars can be seen grinning as they talk, with fans surely hoping they might be trading tips on getting the Steelers to the Super Bowl this year.
Reactions ranged from comments on their careers, their size difference, and the state of the organisation.
One fan commented on X: “Ben’s making fun of him because he’s still playing football. Collect that check Aaron!”
Another commented on their relative heights, with Roethlisberger dwarfing the 6ft 2in Rodgers.
They said: “Ben is a big dude. Look at that height difference.”
The pair have almost four decades of NFL experience between them.
Rodgers, 41, is entering his 21st season in the league, and has had one of the most consistent careers in the history of the sport.
The four-time MVP is best known for his time with the Green Bay Packers.
He won his only Super Bowl in 2011 against the Steelers and his newfound chatting buddy.
Roethlisberger is only two years older at 43, but retired in 2021 after 17 seasons in the league.
He spent his entire career with the Steelers after being picked up by them 11th overall in the 2004 draft.
He led the team to Super Bowl titles in 2006 and 2009, their only such accolades since 1980.
For his efforts with the team, they have unofficially retired his number seven jersey.

They picked up Rodgers on a $13.65million one-year contract following his release from the New York Jets, in hopes of adding an experienced starting QB to improve their odds this year.
Roethlisberger had his say on the signing of Rodgers on his podcast ‘Footbahlin’ in June.
He said: “You’re going to get to see one of the greatest of all time play one more season. I think every week is gonna be must-see TV in a sense.
“Fans of football are going to be coming out, whether it’s at home, on the road — because you want to get a glimpse of greatness one last time. I think that’ll be cool.”
