THE DALLAS COWBOYS have seen the debt on their stadium paid off this week.
The city of Arlington, Texas, who own the stadium, has confirmed the final payment for the debt would be made on Friday, August 15.

That means the debt has been paid off a full 10 years ahead of schedule.
The accrued debt level stood at a $325million contribution taken up in 2005.
It was intended to be paid off after 30 years.
However, revenues from sales-tax increases, hotel occupancy taxes, and car-rental taxes has enabled the debt to be paid off early.
And paying it off a decade early will save city coffers a tidy $151m.
Overall, Arlington paid $490.3m when considering interest fees.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones paid $1.2billion towards the construction of the stadium.
And he is planning to spend $300m to upgrade the stadium further.
Since completion, the 100,000-capacity stadium has hosted high-profile events, including Super Bowl XLV, WWE WrestleMania events, and Taylor Swift‘s The Eras Tour.
In 2026 it will also host nine games at the Fifa World Cup.
The freed-up funds will now go toward the Globe Life Field construction, as approved by Arlington voters in 2017.
Arlington city manager Trey Yelverton told the city council: “Ten years early saves you a lot of interest and a lot of fees.
“Because of how we’ve structured things, we’re able to pay them off early, and because we’re paying this one off early, we continue to be in a good position for Globe Life Field.”
Arlington are also servicing a debt of $500m for the MLB Rangers ballpark, which is due to be paid off in 2034.
