SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Police have made an arrest in an early morning shooting that left one man facing life-threatening injuries.
According to an update from Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Sam Clemens, authorities arrested Wali Eldin Adam, a Sioux Falls man, without incident. An arrest warrant was issued for Adam for attempted murder and aggravated assault. The search warrant carries a $750,000 cash bond.
According to Clemens, police responded to a Marathon gas station on South Minnesota Avenue around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Officers said two people were in the parking lot when Adam arrived.
“All three of them kind of walked into the store at the same time and the dispute continued. Once they got inside, it escalated,” Clemens said.
Court documents say one of the men punched Adam inside the store. Police said Adam pulled out a gun and shot a 24-year-old man inside the store.
“He was struck in the back and was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. We did get an update that he is in critical condition,” Clemens said.
When a 20-year-old man ran from the store, Adam pointed a gun at the 20-year-old and then ended up hitting the 20-year-old in the head with the gun.
Police say Adam took off in a white truck. Later, another officer found the pickup on North Cleveland Avenue, on the northeast side of town. Court documents say Adam stole one of the men’s phones which led police to his truck.
Adam has a history of being arrested. Some cases involved drugs. He’s also been accused of child abuse and sexual assault, but those cases have been dropped.

An early morning shooting has left one man injured and police searching for a suspect.
According to Clemens, police responded to a Marathon gas station on South Minnesota Avenue around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Three men were in the parking lot of the gas station when a fight broke out as they went into the store.
One person pulled out a gun and shot one of the other men. A 24-year-old man was struck in the back and taken to the hospital. He is in critical condition, Clemens said.
At least one employee was inside the store, according to Clemens.
There is a concern to public safety as the fight and shooting appear to be random, Clemens said.
Police say the witness and the surveillance video are what helped police.
