Chick-fil-A restaurant confirms ‘age’ policy that will see guests turned away if they don’t follow new rule

CHICK-FIL-A has sparked outrage over a new age limit policy that could ask you to leave if you do not meet it.

Customers are furious with the fast food chain, claiming that it punishes the good kids along with the bad ones.

A Chick-fil-A in Kettering, Ohio, just updated its age policy in an announcement on the social media platform Facebook.

It states that diners 17 or under must be accompanied by someone over the age of 21, or risk being asked to leave.

Chick-fil-A confirmed that this is being done in line with the new school year starting soon.

The Ohio franchise also noted that it wants to keep the restaurants as safe as it can be for everyone.

DINER REACTION

But some didn’t take this message well and slammed it online.

One woman wrote: “Pretty sad that the good kids are getting punished.

“How about instead of a chaperone policy, they say that they have the right to remove anybody from their property that is being disruptive”

But some supported the policy online and praised Chick-fil-A for taking the step.

A defender commented: “I also absolutely agree if someone is being disruptive they should be asked to leave.”

While another chimed in: “A lot of places are moving into this direction because your kids are unruly and disrespectful.

“The teachers keep telling you. The coaches keep telling you. The librarians keep telling you. Law enforcement keeps telling you.”

WHO DECIDES THIS POLICY?

Explaining the policy to Fox Business, a spokesperson for Chick-fil-A said: “Chick-fil-A restaurants are locally owned and operated.

“This restaurant has set a policy specific to its location, which mirrors that of the shopping center the restaurant is located in.”

The franchise in question is located in front of the Town and Country Shopping Center.

This shopping location has had a teen chaperone policy in place since January 2022, according to an announcement on Facebook.

This policy dictates that anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult to enter.

This isn’t even the only Chick-fil-A to use an age policy to regulate customers.

In Royersford, Pennsylvania, another similar policy was implemented in February 2023.

The Royersford franchise explained why it had done this, citing rowdy behavior from young people.

This included being disrespectful to staff and walking through the drive-thru lane.

The franchise commented: “As you can imagine, this is not a pleasant experience.

“We want to provide a comfortable and safe environment for our guests and our staff, and also to protect our building.

“Therefore, we cannot allow this to continue.

“As a result, to dine in our restaurant, anyone under the age of 16 is required to be accompanied by an adult.”
