NEARLY 2,000 Kentucky driver’s licenses have been revoked amid a bombshell fraud probe linked to migrants, officials revealed.
Governor Andy Beshear confirmed that 1,985 credentials were pulled after investigators flagged irregularities in the application process, reported NBC affiliate WLEX-TV.

“The revoked credentials, if used, would not work at an airport and would be flagged if pulled over at a traffic stop,” Beshear said.
The governor stressed that the suspensions followed detailed reviews of questionable paperwork.
According to him, part of the probe is centered on licenses issued to migrants without the proper supporting documents.
“That’s part of the criminal investigation,” Beshear said, noting that the state is digging into how fraudulent IDs slipped through the system.
He warned that there are “a number of different reasons people might try to get a fake identification.”
The sweeping investigation is being led by the Kentucky State Police, who are working to uncover the full extent of the scheme.
Beshear emphasized that he did not want to get ahead of law enforcement’s findings.
“To our knowledge, all employees involved have been hired through a temp agency and have been terminated,” the governor added.
The alleged fraud has sparked renewed fears about public safety on the roads.
Licenses that should never have been issued could have allowed unqualified drivers behind the wheel.
The news comes after a series of shocking licensing scandals have surfaced across the country.
In one recent case, dozens of drivers in New York City allegedly paid cash to bypass road tests and secure licenses illegally.
Authorities there uncovered a Queens-based driving school that bribed DMV workers to fast-track approvals in a scheme dubbed “Operation Road Test.”
Similarly, Kentucky officials now face tough questions about how nearly 2,000 fraudulent documents slipped through state systems.
How to prepare for the DMV

Here are some ways to streamline your DMV experience:
- Check the DMV website for your state to see if the task can be done completely online. Many processes can now be done online, like renewing a vehicle’s registration or changing an address. Otherwise, several processes can be started online and finished at an in-person location, like renewing a driver’s license.
- Schedule an appointment. While walk-ins are available at all locations, having an appointment time can help reduce frustrating wait times.
- Check the DMV’s website to ensure you have all the necessary forms for the task.
- Get there early. Since many people prefer to try and tackle simple tasks on their lunch breaks or days off, showing up early can mean you’re only one of a few.
- Eat before you go or bring a snack. Since wait times can exceed expectations, bring some form of sustenance.
- Be positive. The process is temporary.
Beshear’s office says the revoked IDs cannot be used for air travel or driving without raising immediate red flags.
The governor also reassured residents that the fraudulent credentials are now effectively worthless.
Still, he acknowledged that investigations into fake IDs are complex and ongoing.
For now, the state is urging caution — and promising accountability as Kentucky works to tighten its licensing process.
And with nearly two thousand licenses already scrapped, many are waiting to see just how deep the scandal goes.
