WORLD No 1 Jannik Sinner suffered an injury setback just hours before the US Open is set to get going.

The Wimbledon champion Sinner is set to team with Katerina Siniakova as part of a new-look mixed doubles tournament.

The new-look tournament is set to get going TODAY, August 19, while the men’s singles tournament is set to get rolling on August 24.

Carlos Alcaraz, Emma Raducanu, Taylor Fritz and Venus Williams are all set to feature as part of the tournament.

SunSport can reveal whether or not Jannik Sinner will feature at the US Open.

Is Jannik Sinner playing in the US Open?

It is yet unconfirmed whether or not Jannik Sinner will appear at the US Open.

The world No 1 is set to feature in mixed doubles action with Katerina Siniakova against Alexander Zverev & Belinda Bencic today.

However, Sinner pulled out of the Cincinnati Open final at 5-0 down in the first set to Carlos Alcaraz, just hours before the mixed doubles tournament was set to start.

The nature of his injury was unclear, and it remains unclear whether he will be ready in time for the mixed doubles tournament.

Following the final, Sinner said he would take: “a couple days of recovery,” suggesting he could miss the mixed doubles tournament to prioritise the men’s singles tournament.

When is the US Open and how can I watch it?

  • The US Open begins on August 24 with the men’s final taking place on September 7.
  • However, this year, the mixed doubles is a standalone tournament and has attracted some of the world’s top players.
  • That takes place from Tuesday, August 19 to Wednesday, August 20.
  • Play for the mixed doubles starts at 4pm BST / 11am EST.
  • The semis and finals on Wednesday night will be at the later time of 12am BST / 7pm EST.
  • TV coverage can be found via Sky Sports in the UK and ESPN in the US, as well as being streamed via their apps/website.
