WILLIAMSPORT, PA (KELO) — Maxen Snoozy was brilliant once again as Sioux Falls avoided elimination Tuesday with a 9-0 win over Bonney Lake, Washington.
South Dakota now advances in the loser’s bracket. They’ll play Wednesday night at 6 p.m. against Irmo, South Carolina.
The story of the game was lights out pitching by Snoozy, followed by some insurance runs in the sixth.
Snoozy allowed two hits in the first inning and then he settled in, striking out ten straight hitters.
Sioux Falls scored first with a passed ball in the second inning.
Then came some adversity. Bonney Lake loaded the bases in the fifth, but Snoozy fanned the final hitter looking, to end the inning with a 1-0 lead.
The South Dakota offense could do no wrong in the sixth inning. They scored eight runs in the final at bat, padding their lead and helping seal a 9-0 win.
Snoozy threw 5.1 innings and allowing no runs on three hits. He struck out 14.
