ROWENA, S.D. (KELO) — A weekly event that raises money to benefit an organization caring for children and families is looking to end summer strong.
Sunshine rained down on Bike Night at Red Rock Bar & Grill on Wednesday night, but the weather has been hit and miss this summer, with storms causing multiple cancellations.
“It’s been a handful of them, four or five probably, maybe six,” Red Rock Bar & Grill owner Mitch Runge said.
Every rainout leaves Runge one step further from his ultimate goal.
“We haven’t had a chance to raise the money that we hope to for Children’s Home Society,” Runge said.
Bike Night annually raises tens of thousands of dollars for the families of Children’s Home Society, where they prevent, treat, and heal trauma.
“They don’t have a lot of choice and we just like helping the local kids,” Runge said.
“They’re out here raising a lot of money for Children’s Home Society and that’s one of the charities that Vern Eide has been a longtime supporter of, so it felt like a really natural fit,” Vern Eide Motoplex’s Tom Borchard said.
Vern Eide Motoplex is partnering with Red Rock to give away a motorcycle.
“We are raffling off a 2025 Indian Chieftain motorcycle with the all new power plus motor, so it’s a really cool bike,” Borchard said.
In addition to purchasing a $100 raffle ticket, you can also help the cause by taking a test drive at Vern Eide Motoplex.
“If you just come out and drive one of our bikes, we make a donation on your behalf to Children’s Home Society at the last Bike Night,” Borchard said.
And every Bike Night means more money for Children’s Home Society.
“We’re fortunate and blessed that these guys show up every week,” Runge said.
The motorcycle giveaway will happen on Wednesday, September 3. Only 500 raffle tickets will be sold. You do not have to be present to win. Runge does plan to add bonus Bike Nights in September to help raise more money for Children’s Home Society.
