A HIT spin-off show has been axed – despite a renewal announcement just weeks ago.
The crime drama served as a prequel to an acclaimed show that aired for eight seasons.

Michael C. Hall famously played the title role in Showtime series Dexter.
It followed the life of Dexter Morgan, who disguises himself as a forensic technician working in Miami by day, and is a serial killer by night.
The first season back in 2006 was watched by millions worldwide, and the finale was seen by over 2.8million people alone.
This was the largest audience to ever tune into the Showtime network at the time.
According to Variety, spin-off Original Sin will not be returning for a second season.
A second outing for the prequel had previously been reported back in April.
It also starred Christian Slater, as a younger iteration of Dexter’s dad, Harry Morgan.
Viewers will recall James Remar portrayed the role in the original Dexter series.
Variety also revealed Paramount+ is reportedly opening a writers’ room for a potential season two of Dexter: Resurrection.
In this follow-up, Hall reprises his role as Dexter, alongside fellow original cast members Remar and David Zayas.
The show premiered in July and has aired ten episodes to date.
In January, it was announced Oscar nominee Uma Thurman would play a series regular role in Resurrection.
The 55-year-old stars as Charley, right-hand woman to Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage).
