The roster is a lot slimmer, though as FOURTEEN players have been cut.

The decision came after the Patriots’ final preseason game against the Washington Commanders.

Mike Vrabel‘s team stormed to a 48-18 victory at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

The Patriots have now cut the players in order to get the roster below the 53-man threshold.

Vrabel confirmed the exodus of players.

The likes of Jaheim Bell, Micah Bernard, Philip Blidi, Isaiah Bolden, Cole Fotheringham, Phil Lutz, RJ. Moten, Kyle Pekp, Jordan Polk, Monty Rice, Tyrese Robinson, Sidy Sow, Shane Watts and Ben Wooldrige have been axed.

Both Polk and Wooldridge joined the Patriots during the offseason as rookie free agents.

While July’s training camp saw Bernard, Watts, Lutz, Fotheringham, Peko, Blidi and Moten join.

Despite the exits of the 14 players, the Patriots still have work to do to reduce the roster.

Vrabel currently has 77 players on the roster including the exmpt international David Olajiga.

That means a further 24 players need to be cut before the 4pm ET deadline on August 24.

Even more may leave as Vrabel has hinted that the Patriots are still trying to improve the roster.

Speaking after the win over the Commanders, he said: “Again, we’re going to continually try to strengthen the roster every way we can.

“There’s a couple options, right? You can try to trade for players.
