Casino Fandango is a casino and entertainment venue based in Carson City, Nevada.

The casino is being accused of not doing enough to prevent a data breach incident that occurred in June 2024.

Plaintiffs in the case claim that Casino Fandango could’ve prevented customer information from being obtained by an unauthorized third party.

They said that if Casino Fandango had implemented reasonable cybersecurity, that the incident could have been prevented.

Despite not admitting to any wrongdoing in this case, the casino has agreed to pay out $1 million to settle the claims against it.

This has been done to avoid a possible trial fro going forward.

The settlement benefits those who were sent a notice of the data incident, and those who had their personal information compromised.

HOW MUCH WILL YOU BE PAID?

Under the terms of the settlement, those affected are entitled to financial compensation.

Class members are eligible to receive up to $2,000 for unreimbursed data breach losses.

This refers to financial losses as a result of the data leak, including money spent relating to identity theft or credit expenses.

Class members are also eligible for non-financial rewards as part of the class action.

Those implicated can receive one year of credit monitoring, up to $1 million in identify theft insurance and managed identify recovery services.

To receive this money, class members must show a form of proof that they did suffer a financial loss as a result of their data being leaked.

This would include things like bank statements, credit card statements, receipts or invoices.

What’s a class-action settlement?

Class action lawsuits offer groups of people, or ‘classes,’ a way to band together in court.

These suits are often brought by one or a few people who allege a company or other entity has wronged a large group of people.

When a suit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members,” or people who may have similar complaints to those who filed the suit.

Companies often settle class actions – offering payment to class members who typically waive their right to pursue further legal action by accepting money.

These payout agreements frequently include statements by the defendant denying wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class actions to avoid the costs of further litigation.

Pollution, discrimination, or false advertising are a few examples of what can land a class action on a company’s doorstep.

Without this, you will not be considered for any form of financial reimbursement.

DATES YOU NEED TO KNOW

If you do not submit a valid claim form by the deadline, you will also not be considered for a payment.

Note that if you knowingly submit a fraudulent claim, you will be harming those who are eligible.

The deadline to submit a claim form in this settlement is set for October 28, 2025.

The final hearing for the Casino Fandango settlement will take place on November 20.
