On the social media platform Reddit, one stunned shopper had to share their find.

In Goodwill, they spent just $40 on a $2,200 T.Anthony leather briefcase that hadn’t even been used.

The shopper could tell it was brand new thanks to two key details, the fact that there was still tissue paper inside of it and a care card in the front pocket.

The shopper wrote: “I just about dropped dead right there in the store.

“It was never used, it still had the care card and tissue paper in the front pocket.

“Never heard of this brand but apparently they are a luxury brand close to or on par with Prada & LV in regard to quality.”

The post showed off the briefcase in all its glory, coming with multiple compartments and a shiny gold badge.

The black straps perfectly compliment the rich leather tone and there isn’t a scratch on it.

The shopper also included a screenshot of what the bag would normally sell for, which confirms the $2,200 price point.

In the comments, the shopper theroized that the Goodwill didn’t know the true value of the bag.

Responding to a question about how the store knew to charge $40, the shopper said: “Like, they obviously knew it was SOMETHING, maybe just not to what extent.”

RIPPED OFF?

But one Reddit user claimed that the shopper got ripped off for the briefcase.

The comment states that Goodwill has a problem with employees marking up the price of items.

This means that the shopper could’ve gotten the briefcase for cheaper.

Valuable thrifting finds revealed

Here are some of the best thrift store finds:

They claimed this is because Goodwill doesn’t watch its employees price things, leading to workers just pricing things based on guesswork and not an established pricing policy.

It is important to note that this does not come from a verified source.

Someone else wrote a comment underneath this claim saying that it wasn’t true.

It read: “This is not accurate.

“Pricing is done using that method for average brands only.

“Generally speaking goodwills throughout the country sell high end merchandise on various e-commerce sites.

“This was probably priced based solely on it being leather and Italian but wasn’t researched.”
