SHILO SANDERS has had a week from hell as his NFL career was thrown into doubt.
Sanders, 25, signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in summer 2025.

Sanders could be forced to reignite his career in the CFL[/caption]
However, Sanders was dramatically cut from the 53-man roster of the NFL giants just days before the NFL season.
It had come after he aimed a PUNCH at rival tight end Zach Davidson during Tampa’s 23-19 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.
The act saw him immediately ejected from the game midway through the second quarter.
Head coach Todd Bowles called the ejection “inexcusable” before Sanders was cut from an updated roster a day later.
And Sanders – son of NFL icon Deion and older brother of 2025 Cleveland Browns fifth round pick Shedeur – is now set to be left without an NFL team.
But he has been offered a career lifeline to head to the CFL.
The Toronto Argonauts picked up the negotiating rights for Shilo and brother Shedeur months ago.
And working on a first-come, first-served basis for CFL franchises, Toronto could make a move to land the safety.
Each team there can have up to 45 players on their negotiating lists.
And if Sanders is not claimed on waivers or signed up to an NFL practice squad before the season starts, he will have the option to continue playing in Canada.
Sanders began his career at the University of South Carolina before transferring to Jackson State before following his Hall of Fame father to Colorado.
But Shannon Sharpe has given his take on the events which have threatened to throw away Sanders’ NFL career.
He told Nightcap: “This is the first time Shilo has been told he’s not good enough.
“I mean, he’s been a phenomenal player.

“Obviously, he got his first start with the University of South Carolina. He got a D1 scholarship.
“Your whole life you’ve dreamed about being an NFL player, whatever the case that may be, you’ve dreamed about holding this dream job, and then all of a sudden they’re like, ‘You’re not good enough’.”
Sanders could yet still sign with the Bucs’ practice squad following the waivers, but Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio has questioned whether he is “good enough to compete and to play at the NFL level”.
Three other teams to be linked with a move for Sanders are the New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos.
The Jets have a glaring weakness in their safety spot in their current roster, while it could be beneficial for him to sharpen his skills at one of the best defenses in the league in Denver.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs have a connection to Sanders through outside linebackers coach Rod Wilson, who attended South Carolina at the same time as Sanders.
