SPECTRUM has quietly rolled out a major change for customers they are only just now spotting.
The change is so bad that some believe that Spectrum is “losing their d**n minds”.

On the social media platform Reddit, one outraged customer revealed that Spectrum would be increasing its internet costs by $2 a month.
Using a screenshot of a Spectrum monthly bill, the Reddit user showed that this $2 increase will kick in from the next statement.
The bill posted is dated July 6, suggesting that Spectrum customers have already seen the monthly increase.
The caption of the thread said: “They are seriously losing their d**n minds & Customers.$2 per month each.
“So glad I have another provider coming for installation on Wednesday!
“I am so dreading the Spectrum cancellation process tho.”
But many didn’t even know they would be hit with one, as per the furious comments posted on the thread.
One person pointed out: “I’m not happy with Spectrum right now either.
“I had just been paying the bill every month without scrutiny until this last month I realized that the bill had gotten too outrageous to tolerate.
“I checked billing history to discover they have been increasing the bill by $10 to $20 every 3 months or so.”
NEGOTIATING SKILLS
Others shared how they managed to negotiate a lower price for their Spectrum internet.
One comment said: “My bill went from 55 to 110.
“I called and said I was cancelling and she said she wouldn’t let me go. Now I’m paying 45 a month. It was pretty easy.”
And another person shared a similar story: “The first person I got lowered our bill only by $10 bucks, wasn’t satisfied, and called back and let them know that and told them we plan on canceling so disregard the new order they made, we ended up saving about $50 a month now.
How to compare prices to get the best deal
JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn’t mean it’s always a good deal.
There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.
Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.
Here are some ones you can use:
- Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
- CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.
- Honey is a price comparison tool that lets you compare prices through your browser. It can also find coupons and codes for saving money on items you’re looking at.
“Their goal is to keep you, just understand it may not work with the first call.”
The US Sun has reached out to Spectrum for comment on the price increase, but did not hear back right away.
PRICE FEARS
Back in May, Spectrum revealed that it was buying a huge rival company, Cox Communications, in a merger worth $34.5 billion.
With industry pressure mounting, it is likely Spectrum made this move to strengthen its market position.
However, some customers are fearful that this could lead to higher prices.
One person wrote on Facebook: Oh yay soo let’s raise our already outrageous cable/internet bill again.”
While someone else cried: “They are a monopoly! Ridiculous this is even allowed.
“They split the territory so they don’t compete with each other.”
It is important to note that there is no confirmed connection between the Cox merger and the $2 bill increase.
