Scattered rain ahead; Unsettled pattern for Labor Day Weekend

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Good morning KELOLAND! A few showers have moved across southeastern KELOLAND overnight, and those clouds from our Platte Camera have sure looked pretty with the morning sunrise!

Mainly clear and cool conditions have dominated northeastern KELOLAND. Take a look at this picture from Aberdeen taken earlier this morning.

Here’s a closer look at the rain trends near Yankton. It’s only a small area seeing the rain, but a few of the totals have been over .25″.

Those showers are feeding off a warm front that is slowly drifting eastward. Highs yesterday were indeed warmer in western SD, a trend that is advancing to the east today.

We expect mid 70s in Sioux Falls this afternoon.

Futurecast is showing the warmer trends today, but also new areas of scattered rain by tonight in southeastern KELOLAND. In fact, there could be a little more rain around Sioux Falls tomorrow night again. We also see some showers and thunderstorms in the Black Hills. More rain is expected in the region by the end of the week.

Here are the details of the forecast.
