Albertsons and Safeways shoppers have two weeks to claim $100 cash settlement with no proof of purchase

AMERICANS have two weeks to claim $100 from a massive $5.95 million privacy settlement.

The money is being handed out by Alberstons to settle claims that it violated the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

The deadline to file a claim is September 10

Albertsons is a major grocery chain with locations across the country.

According to the class action lawsuit, the firm contravened the TCPA by sending unsolicited text messages to consumers.

Plaintiffs in the case claimed they received the messages without having provided any written consent.

Those affected received two or more unsolicited text messages and/or telemarketing calls from Albertsons, Star Markets Company Inc. and Safeway Inc. between June 1 2023, and the date of preliminary approval of the settlement.

It also affects those who received those messages after making a request to stop further messages.

Customers need to be quick as the deadline to file a claim is on September 10.

Albertson has not admitted to any wrongdoing but has agreed to a $5.95 million settlement.

Each class member is set to receive at least $100.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is September 10.

The final approval hearing for the Albertsons settlement is set for October 3.

To claim a payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by September 10.

Meanwhile, Netgain Technology agreed to a $1.9 million settlement over a data breach that compromised sensitive personal and health information between September and November 2020.

Affected consumers can get up to $5,000 for documented losses, or a pro rata cash payout with no proof required.

The deadline to file is September 17.

Arisa Health, an Arkansas behavioral health provider, will pay $1.9 million to resolve claims it failed to prevent a March 2024 data breach.

Hackers allegedly accessed names, Social Security numbers, medical details, health insurance data, driver’s license numbers, and other personal info.

The payout covers anyone Arisa identified as affected and who got an official notice.

Class members can claim up to $5,000 for documented expenses like unreimbursed fraud losses, credit monitoring costs, bank fees, and travel, or $70 with no proof required.

Everyone in the class also gets three years of free credit monitoring.

Proof must be in the form of receipts or official records — handwritten notes alone won’t cut it.
