A NEW warehouse retailer has opened in the US, and has rivalled the likes of Costco with its selection of 5,000 products.
Resco Food Service is megastore that stocks everything from cult overseas snacks to viral treats, and even offers a $20 yearly membership fee.

The warehouse-like store, which opened in 2024, is located in the City of Industry near downtown Los Angeles, California.
Resco is rivalling Costco mainly because of its size and product selection, giving shoppers unique foods they wouldn’t find elsewhere.
It offers shoppers a treasure trove of speciality foods, including plenty of Asian ingredients.
The warehouse even has an entire aisle dedicated to noodles, where shoppers can find various iterations of udon, somen and ramen.
Resco stocks plenty of teas, from green tea and matcha, to 14-ounce packages of milk tea in multiple flavors.
Shoppers can also find a multitiude of sauces to flavor their food.
These include countless versions of crab past, pad thai sauce and mushroom sauce.
Resco also stocks brightly colored jars of pickles, including leek, lotus root and ginger.
There are also aisles dedicated to cookware for all of the food you pick up, from stainless steel bowls to Japanese rice cookers.
The snack selection isn’t lacking either, stocking unique chip flavors like Italian red meat sauce and fried crab Lay’s and seaweed Turtle Chips.
Those looking for something sweeter can also find desserts like Choco Mont chocolate mushrooms, matcha Kit-Kats and grape-and-peach Oreos.
REGULAR AISLES
Heading to the aisles you would find in a typical store, like a produce section, it is still full of less conventional items.
Shoppers can pick up their standard fresh and frozen cuts and bulk items of pork spare ribs and pork loin back ribs.
But Resco also offers lesser-known cuts of meat, like beef oxlips, quails, duck heads and duck gizzards.
Costco membership sharing guidelines
Costco has strict rules for membership use that shoppers must follow and they’ve been cracking down on offenders in recent years.
- Primary Member Use: Only the primary cardholder can use this Costco membership card. Sharing it for purchases is not allowed as the photo on the card must match the person using it.
- Household Card: Each primary member can add one free household cardholder who lives at the same address. This person will receive their own membership card and can shop at Costco independently.
- Guest Policy: Members can bring up to two guests per visit to Costco. However, only the member can make purchases. Guests must be accompanied by the member.
- Authorized Cardholder: For an additional fee, you can add an authorized cardholder, such as a family member or friend, who doesn’t reside at your address. They will receive their own card and can shop independently.

The produce bins are stacked with standard items like apples, peppers and tomatoes, but also offer red yu choy sum and yam leaf.
RIVALLING COSTCO
Costco should feel threatened by Resco because of how it uses the tried-and-tested warehouse format.
If Costco‘s long aisles encourage shoppers to keep looking for items to buy, Resco’s more unique product selection achieves this, too.
The $20 membership fee is also a smart way to bring customers over from Costco.
By comparison, Costco charges $65 a year for its Gold Star membership and $130 per year for an Executive membership.
Costco‘s membership is mandatory if shoppers want to get through the door at certain times.
Resco strays away from this policy with its store, its membership is simply a bonus for frequent shoppers.
