Chilling new details about suspect Austin Drummond who ‘killed 4 family members’ as vid of him fighting in jail emerges

TERRIFYING footage has surfaced of a jailhouse fight involving the Tennessee man accused of killing four family members after new phone evidence placed him at the scene of the murders.

Austin Drummond appeared to corner another inmate and attack him with a knife, making him drip blood onto the prison floor in disturbing surveillance video captured before his release last year.

Drummond, 28, is accused of shooting and killing 20-year-old Adrianna Williams, 21-year-old Matthew Wilson, 38-year-old Cortney Rose, and 15-year-old Braydon Williams on July 29.

He is also accused of kidnapping Wilson and Williams’ seven-month-old daughter and abandoning the baby about 24 miles away from the murders.

His extensive criminal record came to light as police launched a manhunt for Drummond after he was identified as the suspect in the quadruple murders.

JAILHOUSE FIGHT

Drummond was serving a 13-year sentence at Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee, for an aggravated robbery he committed in 2014 at the time of the fight.

In the video from the facility obtained by CBS affiliate WREG, he and another inmate are seen punching and kicking a man in a common area as Drummond appeared to be armed with a blade.

As prison guards rushed over, the man who was being attacked fell backwards and kicked at Drummond, who did not let up, while officers held back the other inmate.

When the man who was being attacked stood up, a large amount of blood could be seen dripping from his head and body onto the concrete floor. It’s unclear what injuries he suffered in the altercation.

Throughout his time in jail, Drummond received at least 25 disciplinary infractions and allegedly joined the Vice Lords gang, while sick pictures from behind bars showed him living large in a lavish cell.

He was slapped with a new charge of attempted murder after the fight, along with drug charges.

Despite the new charges, Drummond made a $130,000 bond and was released from prison after serving only 10 years in September 2024.

BOND HEARING

On Monday, Drummond appeared at a bond hearing, where his bond on the attempted murder was revoked.

Drummond’s attorney, Drew Farmer, shared his concerns about the video of the jail fight getting leaked due to the publicity of the case.

“The actual video of the alleged incident or more accurately selective portions of it that were shared on social media today while we were in court which is very suspicious and concerning,” Farmer said.

However, the district attorney said he had nothing to do with the video release.

At the hearing, a special agent with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation revealed that cell phone data put Drummond at the scene of the murders on July 29.

WILD FBI CLAIMS

The digital evidence goes directly against Drummond’s previous claims that he was an FBI informant whose cover was blown in the weeks before the murders.

He insisted that he was innocent of the murders because he had “no reason” to kill the four victims.

Drummond bizarrely said that he helped officials arrest drug dealers and gang members who were sending drugs into prisons.

He admitted that he was a part of the Vice Lords gang and said he went on the run after the murders because his identity was revealed.

“You know, I was afraid that because I was an informant, things would go wrong, things would happen to me,” Drummond said.

He has pleaded not guilty to the murders and maintained his innocence. He’s now in jail with no bond.

Quadruple murders timeline

Tuesday, July 29: A seven-month-old baby girl was found abandoned in a car seat in the front yard of a residence in Tigrett, Dyer County, Tennessee, at around 3 pm.

Hours later: Four individuals were found dead in Lake County approximately 40 miles from where the baby was located.

Wednesday, July 30: Investigators identify the victims as:

  • Matthew Wilson, 21, (the baby’s father)
  • Adrianna Williams, 20 (the baby’s mother)
  • Cortney Rose, 38, (the baby’s grandmother)

Thursday, July 31: The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation name Austin Drummond, 28, as a suspect in the quadruple homicide.

Friday, August 1: Cops locate Drummond’s damaged Audi A3 abandoned on a road in Jackson. Tanaka Brown has been arrested and is accused of being an accessory to first degree murder after the fact and tampering with evidence.

Saturday, August 2: Agents arrest second man Giovontie Thomas for accessory to first degree murder after the fact. They also locate a Ford pick up truck believed to be connected to Drummond in Dyer County.

Monday, August 4: Dearrah Sanders is the third person to be arrested and charged for accessory to first degree murder after the fact.

Jackson cops also release surveillance footage of Drummond, wearing camouflaged gear, stalking a neighborhood and trying to get into a church building.

Tuesday, August 5: Drummond taken into custody after being captured in Jackson. He was arrested after cops issued a shelter-in-place order following a suspected sighting.

Drummond was out on bond for his drug and attempted murder charges when he allegedly killed the four family members in western Tennessee.

At the time of the murders, he was reportedly dating Rose’s sister, Kaitlyn Speed, who previously worked at the Northwest Correctional Complex while Drummond was imprisoned there.

The couple is expecting a baby boy due next month. It’s unclear if they’re still together.

After the murders, police embarked on a weeklong manhunt for Drummond as speculation swirled that he had left the state.

A break in the hunt came when Drummond was spotted on video stalking a neighborhood and trying to get into buildings while he made a hand gesture appearing to signal to other people.

He was arrested by US Marshals on August 5 in a sweat-soaked capture after a construction worker called the cops when they spotted him in the woods near the pool house where he was hiding.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in the quadruple murder case.

Drummond is set to appear back in court on October 27.
