Fliers face $2,570 fine if they bring everyday recreation item onto a flight – removing certain part will save thousands

PASSENGERS face thousands in fines if they bring a prohibited everyday recreation item onto a flight.

The Transportation Security Administration has warned fliers to check their baggage before leaving home.

Many Americans will be travelling on Labor Day to mark the end of the summer.

But some Labor Day essentials could land you a hefty fine if they are not packed properly.

If you’re planning a camping trip this holiday and want to bring a camp stove with you, make sure that it is empty of all fuel.

Camp stoves are only allowed in carry on and checked bags when they are clean of all residue and fuel vapors.

Passengers are asked to wrap cords and layer items in bags when packing their camp stoves.

If you fail to comply with the rule, you could face a fine from $450 up to $2,570.

According to a TSA guidance policy, household essentials such as flammable liquid or gel fuels – including cooking fuels and paint thinners – are banned from flights.

The TSA website adds: “Before leaving home, remember to check your baggage to ensure you are not carrying any prohibited items to avoid a possible arrest and/or civil penalties.”

TSA Travel Warnings

TSA has released other travel warnings, such as flyers now facing $2,570 fine if they pack two banned Labor Day essentials.

This includes fireworks, undeclared loaded firearms and any manner of explosives – even realistic replicas of explosives.

Sammy Kershaw was caught with a loaded firearm in his carry-on at Lafayette Airport, which landed him a $5,000 fine.

His explanation was a packing mistake, and after this incident, he urged flyers to double-check their bags before flying.

Flyers can now also face a $2,570 fine for bringing cordless hair tools on planes.

The tool itself is not the issue, but the butane pack and gas cartridge that flyers bring with the tools can create a hazard.
