THE boss of a New Hampshire mom who killed her husband and two kids said he confronted her over alleged theft and reported her to police just a week before the family tragedy.

Emily Long,34, had been allegedly embezzling more than $660,000 from her workplace over two years, Derek Fisher, owner of the Wing-Itz branch where she worked, revealed.

The shocking murder-suicide happened in Madbury, New Hampshire, where Long shot her husband, Ryan, 48, and two children, Parker, 8, and Ryan, 6, before taking her own life on August 18.

The couple’s youngest child, a 3-year-old, survived the massacre and is now with family.

Fisher said he discovered the alleged theft while reviewing company finances with an accountant in June.

“There were a lot of handwritten checks being deposited into her bank account,” Fisher told ABC affiliate WCVB.

He confronted Long in June about the missing money, asking her for three months of bank statements.

She handed them over on August 5, but Fisher said they appeared doctored with pages missing.

“Given her circumstances with her husband, I was trying to be considerate and patient,” Fisher said.

The alleged embezzlement began in January 2023, months before Ryan Long was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a highly aggressive brain cancer, according to ABC affiliate WMUR.

Fisher filed a police report on August 11, just seven days before the killings.

“I felt I had no other option than to go to law enforcement,” he said.

It remains unclear if the alleged theft influenced Emily Long’s decision to kill her family.

Long had been posting videos on TikTok about being overwhelmed and “really depressed” while preparing for her husband’s imminent death.

Friends say she had left her job and was struggling financially.

“She had also left her job but was unhappy with her career, and they were obviously struggling with money and at risk of losing the house,” a family friend told the Daily Mail.

Attorney General’s statement

On August 20, the New Hampshire Department of Justice released the following statement:

“Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall, and Madbury Police Department Chief Joseph McGann announce that autopsies have been completed on the bodies of Ryan Long (48), Emily Long (34), Parker Long (8), and Ryan Long (6) discovered inside their home in Madbury on Monday August 18, 2025.

“Associate Chief Medical Examiner Abigail Alexander conducted autopsies today on both minors Parker Long and Ryan Long.  Dr. Alexander determined that both children’s causes of death were single gunshot wounds of the head, and their manners of death are homicide.

“Chief Medical Examiner Jennie V. Duval conducted autopsies on both adults, Ryan Long and Emily Long.  Dr. Duval determined that Mr. Long’s cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, and his manner of death is homicide.  Dr. Duval determined that Emily Long’s cause of death was a single gunshot wound of the head, and her manner of death is suicide.

“Based upon the information available at this time, it appears that in the early morning hours of Monday, August 18, 2025, Ms. Long took a handgun from the home and caused the deaths of Ryan Long and her two children, Parker and Ryan, and then took her own life immediately thereafter.  While investigators are becoming aware of various concerns/issues ongoing in the household at the time of the event in question, people should avoid speculating that this event was caused by a single reason or stressor.

“Citizens in crisis are reminded that they can call, text or chat with the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 9-8-8, or contact the Crisis Text Line by texting TALK to 741741.

“No further information is expected to be released at this time.”

Long frequently updated her 6,400 TikTok followers on Ryan’s treatments and shared her struggles explaining his illness to their children.

Two weeks before the deaths, she admitted online that she needed help.

“I know that I will [get help] one day, and I hope that I make the decision before I feel that it’s too late,” she said in a video.

“I’m getting out of this depression whether I want to or not.”

Emily Long had previously shared feelings of loneliness and anxiety.

Authorities confirmed that Ryan and the children died from gunshot wounds.

Ryan was shot multiple times, while the children were each shot once in the head.

Emily’s death was ruled a suicide.

The youngest child was unharmed inside the house during the shootings.

New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati said the investigation is ongoing and urged against speculation about a single cause.

“It’s probably one of the more difficult things that they are trying to grasp, to understand how this came to be and to be able to be more definitive,” Agati said.

Fisher said he does not intend to pursue legal action to recover the alleged stolen funds.

“Anything that’s left of it should go to that child – he deserves all of it. It’s not fair to him. He didn’t make this happen, and he didn’t deserve this,” Fisher said.

Ryan Long had worked as a school psychologist at Oyster River Middle School, while Emily Long was director of operations at Wing-Itz.

The family had moved to their five-bedroom Madbury home, now valued at over $660,000, in 2020.

Officials are expected to perform autopsies on the family, with the chief medical examiner reviewing all details.
