Bill Belichick’s UNC debut turns into disaster as fans storm out early after embarrassing ‘whoopin’ at home to TCU

BILL Belichick’s much-anticipated college football debut did not go as expected on Monday night.

The future NFL Hall of Famer took the field for the first time as North Carolina’s head coach and got absolutely steamrolled.

In the opening game of the season, North Carolina got dominated by TCU, with the Horned Frogs winning 48-14.

North Carolina scored first, taking a 7-0 lead, but then surrendered 41 unanswered points before getting back on the board.

Reece Davis described things perfectly while calling the game on ESPN.

“And to borrow from my friend Rich Eisen, TCU has busted out the whoopin’ stick,” he said.

TCU head coach Sonny Dykes made it known after the game that his team felt disrespected with how much attention was on UNC before the game.

He said that it motivated his players to perform against Belichick’s team.

“I think we all felt a little disrespected, maybe, coming in,” he said.

“There was a lot of conversation and none of it was about us.

“I think we all were highly motivated. Our players were certainly excited to play.”

Belichick didn’t have much to say after the contest, simply calling TCU better than his squad.

“They were clearly the better team tonight,” he said.

“They deserved to win and they did it decisively.”

Fans were clearly disappointed with the new team that Belichick put on the field, as the stands were seen emptying midway through the third quarter.

There is a good reason why those fans left too, as Belichick’s first game as the North Carolina head coach instantly became the worst game of his career.

In 511 NFL games, Belichick never gave up more than 47 points in one game.

Belichick is going to have a lot of work to do to figure out how to get his roster meshing better on the field in future games.

He added 70 new players in the offseason, and they just aren’t clicking yet.

The good news is that North Carolina’s schedule isn’t too hard, with just one ranked squad (No. 4 Clemson) in their future.
