RUDY Giuliani is slated to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom after being seriously injured in a car accident over the weekend.
The former advisor to Donald Trump suffered a fractured vertebrae, cuts, and injuries to his arm and leg after his car was slammed from behind on a New Hampshire highway.

The president announced that Giuliani will now receive the highly distinguished Presidential Medal of Freedom – the highest honor a civilian can get.
“I am pleased to announce that Rudy Giuliani, the greatest Mayor in the history of New York City, and an equally great American Patriot, will receive THE PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM, our Country’s highest civilian honor,” he wrote on Truth Social Monday.
The medal is given to those for “a lifetime of significant achievements in the arts, public service, science, or other fields,” according to Congress.gov.
Some of those to have received the honor include Norman Rockwell, Martin Luther King Jr., Jackie Robinson, Frank Sinatra, and Nelson Mandela.
Giuliani had served as the New York City mayor during 9/11, where he was dubbed “America’s Mayor” due to his response after the attacks.
He’s most recently known for his work as Trump’s adviser during his first term.
Since then, Giuliani has had multiple legal cases pushed against him.
He was disbarred in Washington D.C. and New York, and faced charges in Georgia and Arizona — all of those cases connected to the 2020 presidential election.
Ted Goodman, a spokesperson for Giuliani, wrote that there was “no American more deserving of this honor.”
“Mayor Rudy Giuliani took down the Mafia, saved New York City, comforted the nation following 9/11, and served in countless other ways to improve the lives of others.”
Trump said in the post that more information on the award ceremony would follow.
THE CRASH
Right before his car accident on Saturday, Giuliani, 81, and his driver were flagged down by a woman on the side of the road after an alleged domestic violence incident.
The driver of the other car, 19-year-old Lauren Kemp, is believed to have no connection to the first incident after conspiracy theories had swirled online of a possible attack against the former New York City mayor.
“This was not a targeted attack,” Giuliani’s spokesperson, Michael Ragusa, said.
“We ask everyone to respect Mayor Giuliani’s privacy and recovery, and refrain from spreading unfounded conspiracy theories.”
Just hours before the crash that injured three people in total, Giuliani was attending a baseball game with his rumored girlfriend and nurse practitioner Maria Ryan.
Rudy Giuliani’s public blunders
Rudy Giuliani rose to political prominence as the New York City Mayor and personal attorney for Donald Trump. He has endured multiple public blunders and personal setbacks, including:
- Marrying second cousin – Giuliani married his second cousin, Regina Peruggi on October 26, 1968. They annulled their marriage in 1983.
- Borat film – Giuliani was featured in Sacha Baron Cohen’s movie and was caught with his hands in his pants. An actress was pretending to be a television journalist and invited Giuliani to her hotel room. He appeared to lean back in a chair and unbutton his pants before Cohen interrupted the fake interview.
- Four Seasons fiasco – While working for Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign, Giuliani accidentally held a press conference at the Four Seasons Total Landscaping instead of the Four Seasons Hotel.
- Hair dye mishap – Giuliani’s hair dye appeared to melt down his face at a press conference in November 2020.
- Farting at a hearing – A fart noise was heard over Giuliani’s microphone while he was questioned at a Michigan election fraud hearing in December 2020.
- Airport shave – Giuliani was spotted in August 2021 shaving at JFK Airport in New York.
- Masked Singer appearance – Giuliani competed in the 2022 season of The Masked Singer on Fox. Panelist Ken Jeong walked off stage when Giuliani was unmasked after singing under a Jack in the Box costume.
- Defamation lawsuit – A federal judge finds that Giuliani defamed two Georgia election workers in the aftermath of the 2020 election, awarding them $146 million in damages
- Disbarment – In June, Giuliani was disbarred in New York and three months later in Washington DC, for his role in attempting to overturn the 2020 election.
- Loses New York apartment – In September, a judge ordered Giuliani to turn over his $5.7 million Manhattan apartment, along with most of his other possessions, to the two Georgia election workers he defamed.
The two were photographed sitting next to each other at the minor league baseball game as they scrolled on their phones.
Spokesperson Ragusa shot down that the two were a romantic pairing after theories had spread online for years about Ryan and Giuliani’s relationship.
“Her role is strictly focused on ensuring the Mayor’s health and recovery, drawing on her extensive background in clinical leadership and patient care,” Ragusa told the Daily Mail.
“Any suggestion to the contrary is both unfounded and misleading. Mayor Giuliani and Dr. Ryan remain committed to transparency and professionalism.”
“At this time, their sole focus is on the Mayor’s continued recovery and his return to work serving the American people.”
Giuliani has since been released from the hospital.
