The ban was due to “an internal investigation in coordination with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Department of Catholic Schools.”

SFGate said that the school self-reported after allegations over illegal transfers.

It was claimed this week that an infamous high-school booster Brett Steigh helped with a number illegal transfers for players on the team.

The school completed more than 20 transfers this offseason.

The California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section ruled that five of them were ineligible.

A bylaw was allegedly violated that “incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete or false information” was provided.

Steigh previously gave an interview to Sports Illustrated.

He admitted paying parents to convince players to transfer to Bishop Montgomery.

The school is the third one that has been hit with penalties from Steigh’s involvement.

Narbonne were sanctioned in 2018 and 2024 for alleged illegal transfers.

And St Bernard suspended it’s football program from 2021 to 2023.

Bishop Montgomery already had a tough start to the campaign.

Their players were involved in a brawl during a game against St Louis.
