Bangkok will host the fifth Colours of Africa event at CentralWorld, bringing together culture, trade, and diplomacy between Thailand and African nations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has confirmed that the fifth edition of the Colours of Africa event will be held on Monday, September 8 and Tuesday, September 9 at CentralWorld. The annual celebration, co-organised by the MFA, African embassies, honorary consulates, and private sector partners, seeks to highlight growing ties between Thailand and African nations.
Sasirit Tangulrat, Director-General of the MFA’s South Asian, Middle East, and Africa Department, stressed the continent’s importance to Thailand in terms of resources, trade, and development. She hopes that the event would help Thai audiences better appreciate Africa’s economic and cultural potential.

The opening ceremony will take place on Monday from 2.30pm to 3.45pm, featuring cultural showcases and special performances. Across both days, visitors will be treated to exhibitions of African cuisine, crafts, live music, dance, and cooking demonstrations.
This year’s programme also places a special emphasis on engaging young people. Activities for students include quizzes, art displays, and public speaking contests designed to promote cross-cultural understanding. The festival’s goal is to go beyond entertainment by creating long-term opportunities for mutual learning and cooperation.

Moroccan Ambassador Abderrahim Rahhaly described the festival as a vibrant celebration of Africa’s diversity and resilience. He highlighted the continent’s progress in fields such as agriculture, renewable energy, tourism, and the arts.
“This event embodies the spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding by opening the door of cooperation and cultural exchange with our Thai friends.”
The Colours of Africa has steadily grown since its launch, becoming a platform for cultural diplomacy while offering Thai people a glimpse into Africa’s traditions and modern achievements. For African embassies in Bangkok, it provides an opportunity to showcase investment opportunities, strengthen bilateral ties, and build public awareness of Africa’s global role.
Bangkok Post reported that organisers hope that the fifth edition will not only delight with its vibrant performances and authentic flavours but also encourage future collaborations in trade, education, and sustainable development.
