TEXAS is mourning the devastating loss of a promising young athlete who passed away after collapsing during training.
Gage Broomall, just 20 years old, was taking part in a routine cross-country practice at Odessa College when the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon.

The second-year student-athlete from Hallsville, Texas, reportedly collapsed at the very start of the session, prompting immediate calls for medical assistance.
Emergency personnel arrived swiftly and did everything they could to help but despite their best efforts Gage sadly could not be revived.
Odessa College confirmed his passing in an emotional statement sharing that their entire community has been left heartbroken by the sudden loss.
The college said: “Gage was a valued member of the Odessa College Wrangler family.
“His loss is deeply felt by his teammates, coaches, classmates and all who knew him.”
Gage had been a dedicated member of the Wranglers’ cross-country team and those close to him described him as someone with a deep love for running, a kind heart and a bright future ahead.
As tributes began to pour in from team-mates, friends and faculty, the college quickly mobilized grief counselors to support students and staff during this difficult time.
Social media has since filled with messages of love and remembrance, with many recalling Gage’s work ethic, positivity and the warmth he brought to those around him.

To honor his life and continue his legacy, Odessa College has partnered with the Broomall family to establish the Gage Broomall Memorial Scholarship Fund. Donations are currently being accepted online.
The college said the scholarship will serve as a lasting tribute to Gage’s spirit, offering future students the opportunity to pursue their athletic and academic dreams.
At this time, no official cause of death has been released and the family has asked for privacy as they navigate this unimaginable grief.
Plans for a memorial service are currently underway with the college confirming that further details will be shared in the coming days.
