Radioactive shrimp recall sparks strange warning from Senator claiming Americans will ‘grow an extra ear’ if they eat it

A BIZARRE warning was delivered on the Senate floor after recalls of radioactive shrimp left shoppers alarmed.

Louisiana senator John Kennedy, 73, made a jaw-dropping plea last week, warning that Americans could grow extra body parts from eating radioactive shrimp.

Kennedy stood before colleagues with a blown-up photo of an alien-like monster from the sci-fi classic Alien.

“It will kill you. Even if it doesn’t turn you into an alien if you eat this stuff, I guarantee you will grow an extra ear,” he told lawmakers.

The seafood, pulled from supermarkets in late August, was found to contain cesium-137, a radioactive isotope linked to cancer.

The shrimp batches were recalled twice, according to the Food and Drug Administration, which confirmed the health risk was tied to radiation exposure, not mutations.

Kennedy used the moment to lash out at imports, insisting the US was being flooded with unsafe products.

The Republican senator claimed other countries “don’t abide by the same rules that we abide by in America.”

He added, without evidence, that shrimp from abroad are “shot full of antibiotics.”

Kennedy argued consumers may not realize the dangers because they “become resistant to certain bacteria” after eating so much imported seafood.

The senator admitted he is “biased” since shrimping is a major industry in his home state.

Louisiana and Texas remain among the biggest providers of shrimp in the country, giving Kennedy a clear incentive to push local catches.

“I believe in homegrown Louisiana shrimp, fresh out of the Gulf, not radioactive,” Kennedy said.

“But I understand that some stores prefer to buy foreign shrimp because it is cheaper. Now we know why: The damn stuff is radioactive,” he continued.

Kennedy’s dramatic speech was reposted on his X account, where it quickly went viral.

The clip has racked up 1.5 million views since Thursday, sparking a flood of comments from both critics and supporters.

Some accused him of “fear-mongering” and using shock tactics to distract from other pressing issues.

Others said he had a point and urged stricter protections for America-grown seafood.

The senator has a long history of making odd or outlandish comments in public.

After a deadly July shooting at NFL headquarters in Manhattan, he said the nation needed “idiot control” instead of stricter gun control laws.

He later admitted he didn’t know “exactly how to do that.”

When riots erupted in Los Angeles over ICE actions, Kennedy told Democrats upset with Trump’s response to “pop a Zoloft.”

The antidepressant reference was blasted at the time as insensitive.

Kennedy didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment by The U.S. Sun.
