Starting on Tuesday, customers can take advantage of the French Onion menu at Shake Shack, per a press release.

Shake Shack was inspired by French Onion Soup specifically, a beloved fall dish, and decided to create offerings that represents its “decadent, elevated flavors.”

Of particular note on the updated menu is the French Onion Soup Burger, something that was built in “layers,” according to John Karangis, executive chef and vice president of Culinary Innovation at Shake Shack.

“With our French Onion menu, we set out to capture the depth of the classic soup,” Karangis said in a statement.

“We built flavor in layers, from slow-cooked caramelized onions and roasted garlic to melted Gruyère and crispy sweet onions — bringing this rich, indulgent soup to life in our favorite way: a delicious burger.”

The French Onion Soup Burger comes with a 100% beef Angus patty and the Gruyère cheese, along with caramelized onions, crispy sweet onions, and a roasted garlic parmesan aioli.

Of course, this is all sandwiched between a toasted potato bun.

BURGER BONUS

There are two other burger variations as well, including the French Onion ‘Shroom Burger and French Onion Shack Stack.

With the French Onion ‘Shroom Burger, there’s crisp-fried portobello mushrooms, Muenster and cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and the roasted parmesan garlic aioli between the potato buns.

The French Onion Shack Stack has the 100% Angus patty again with the ‘Shroom burger on top, Gruyère cheese, caramelized onions, and the roasted garlic parmesan aioli with the potato bun.

Along with the three burger options on the French Onion menu at Shake Shack, there are also two sides and a new sweet treat.

First is the Parmesan Garlic Fries, which are the chain’s classic crinkle-cut fries dusted with parmesan cheese and served with roasted garlic parmesan aioli as a dipping sauce on the side.

There’s also Onion Rings, which are beer-battered and made from sweet Spanish onions.

Consumers can elect a sauce of their choice with those.

Nick Wuest, senior manager of culinary innovation at Shake Shack, told USA Today recently that it took about two years for the brand to really nail down the flavors they wanted for the French Onion menu.

“We looked at all different ways of doing French onion,” Wuest told the publication.

“We made more pots of French onion soup than we knew what to do with.”

Shake Shack also recently opened some first-ever locations in three key cities across the country.

It even brought back its version of a Dubai Chocolate shake this summer after the treat went viral online.
