But on Wednesday, Adam Schefter reported, via X, that they had made some major moves to their roster.
Pittsburgh signed safety Jabrill Peppers on a one-year contract.
They also moved cornerback James Pierre from the practice squad to the active roster and signed QB Logan Woodside to the practice squad.
This followed Malik Harrison and Skylar Thompson being placed on the injury reserve.
Harrison is a linebacker, while Thompson was their third-string quarterback.
The Steelers picked up a 34-32 victory against the Jets on the opening weekend of the season.
However, head coach Mike Tomlin revealed that three players left the game with injuries.
A worry ahead of their Week 2 clash with the Seattle Seahawks.
Peppers was drafted in as a replacement for Harrison, as well as the Steelers’ other defensive issues, none of which seem to have been major.
The 29-year-old is a former first-round draft pick, having been picked up by the Browns in the 2017 NFL Draft.
The safety also featured for the New York Giants and New England Patriots, before being cut by the latter.
The Steelers signed Harrison on a two-year, $10 million contract in March.
The 27-year-old played five seasons with the Baltimore Ravens before joining the Steelers.
The other injury reserve, Thompson, 28, is a former 7th-round pick.

James Pierre was elevated for the Week 1 win over the Jets and played 11 special teams snaps[/caption]
Logan Woodside has four completed throws in his NFL career[/caption]
He featured ten times for the Miami Dolphins during three years in the Sunshine State.
He often impressed, but not enough to displace Tua Tagovailoa.
Pierre was first signed by the Steelers as a free agent back in 2020.
Pierre has 117 tackles, three interceptions, five forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in 82 games for the Steelers.
Woodside is a 30-year-old QB who has dotted around five different NFL teams during his eight-year career.
He has played in 13 games, but never started.
His completion rate is under 60% and has never thrown a TD.
