THE San Francisco 49ers are in search of a new quarterback.
With Brock Purdy a “long shot” to play on Sunday, the team is looking for additional options for their quarterback room.

Purdy is dealing with shoulder and toe injuries, and could end up sidelined for multiple weeks.
Because of that, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is looking to add a new passer.
“We’d love to have three guys in the building ready to go,” Shanahan told reporters.
“We’ve got some roster issues where we just can’t bring one in right away.”
The 49ers worked out former New York Jets and Miami Dolphins quarterback Mike White on Wednesday, according to NFL.com.
However, the team hasn’t signed anyone yet, leaving them with just two quarterbacks on the roster without Purdy.
Former first round pick Mac Jones is in line to start for the 49ers on Sunday, with Adrian Martinez set to back him up.
San Francisco did draft a quarterback in Kurtis Rourke in the seventh round of this year’s draft, but he is on the non-football injury list currently.
Jones spent last year as the backup to Trevor Lawrence on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He ended up starting seven games due to injuries to Lawrence.
Jones passed for 1,672 yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions last season.
Martinez has yet to appear in an NFL game this season.
If the 49ers want to add a new quarterback, they will likely have to dip into a limited pool of free agents.
It would be tough to swing a trade for a backup quarterback at this point in the season.

Dorian Thompson Robinson is a free agent and has started five games for the Cleveland Browns in his career.
Other free agents include Taylor Heinicke, Tim Boyle, Clayton Tune, and Nate Sudfeld.
