Green Bay Packers star Jayden Reed left screaming in agony after painful injury blow which forces him out of game

WIDE receiver Jayden Reed was forced off the field by a grisly injury on Thursday that left him screaming in pain.

The Green Bay Packers star picked up the injury during a 27-18 victory over the Washington Commanders.

Reed escaped his man as he charged towards the corner of the end zone for a deep ball in the first quarter.

Quarterback Jordan Love found him with an inch-perfect ball, which Reed was able to snatch for an apparent touchdown.

His momentum carried him to the floor out of bounds, where he was crunched on top of by Commanders safety Quan Martin.

The impact clearly caused the 25-year-old significant discomfort as he hobbled to his medical staff, apparently unable to move his right arm.

The injury was later confirmed by coach Matt LaFleur to be a broken collarbone.

To add insult to injury, his 39-yard touchdown was cancelled out due to a holding call against right tackle Anthony Belton.

LaFleur told press in the post-game conference: “He’s going to miss a lot of time.

“We’ll see how fast he can recover and heal and certainly I would expect him back at some point this season, but obviously it’s a big blow to us.”

The club say they expect Reed to be missing for 6-8 weeks, but a broken collarbone can take up to two-3 months to heal properly

It comes at the worst time for the Illinois native, who spent the majority of training camp unavailable through a foot injury.

Despite this setback, he opened his season strongly against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Reed notched 45 yards and a second-quarter touchdown in a 27-13 win at Lambeau Field.

LaFleur added: “He’s a guy who’s a catalyst for our offense and our football team, quite frankly, the energy he brings and he’s a dog.”

The Packers picked up Reed 50th overall in the 2023 NFL draft, and he has been with the organisation since.

They will now be without him when they hit the road to face the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.

They will look to continue their so-far perfect start to the season in the NFC North.
