A COSTCO shopper is receiving backlash after using a food court hack that others called ‘gross.’
They posted their innovative way to go hands-free at the food court, but other shoppers are calling the social media user out for their hack.

The hack was a makeshift cupholder using the child safety buckle[/caption]
The customer posted a photo on Reddit showing them using the child lock on the shopping cart to hold their soda cup leaving them to shop hands-free.
“Makeshift cupholder for shopping after a hotdog meal,” the user posted.
The Coca-Cola cup perfectly fits inside the child lock on the cart, but the post sparked a major debate in the comments.
“I used to push carts back in high school,” one Reddit user commented.
“The number of carts with toddler diarrhea soaking through those straps and seats… oof.
“This is gross.”
Several other people supported the user’s comment, calling eating off the seats “low-watt behavior.”
“You underestimate some of the low-watt behaviors out there in the wild,” a user replied.
Another shopper said they always ask for “no food in the baby seat” to avoid germ-filled encounters.
“Thanks for validating this. I’ve seen people post wet ravioli and sushi samples being eaten off the baby seat. People alwayyys put their food court pizza and dogs there too,” the shopper wrote.
“I have made several posts on this subreddit about how I always get looked at funny at checkout when I ask for no food in the baby seat (at least not bare produce, perforated bread bags, anything that goes directly in the fridge, really).
“I mean, you don’t eat off a high chair at a restaurant.”
Some shoppers supported the original poster’s innovation.
“That’s genius,” one user wrote.
Costco classic food court items

- Pepperoni or Cheese Pizza slice – $1.99
- Rotisserie Chicken Caesar Salad – $6.99
- Turkey and Swiss Sandwich – $6.99
- Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie – $2.49
“I use the strap but never thought to put it in between the strap!”
Another user wrote: “Can’t get more American than having cup holders in a shopping cart.”
However, the post created another unexpected debate: the lids on Coca-Cola cups.
“The one thing I will say that’s great about the switch to Coke (I prefer the Pepsi products, but Coke is good too), is the return of NORMAL LIDS for the cups,” one user commented.
“The lids on those Pepsi cups sucked… they were trying to encourage people not to use straws with that big gaping ‘sip’ opening.
“Problem is, they often ripped and fell apart.”
