Standout guard Tyler Smith has signed a record deal with the Cowboys.
The four-year extension is worth $96 million, $81.2M of which is guaranteed.
This makes him the most expensive guard in the history of the NFL.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport broke the news on X on Saturday.
The monster contract means he overtakes Trey Smith as the best-paid player in his position ever.
The lineman was given a $94 million extension with the Kansas City Chiefs back in July.
Tyler Smith is currently in his fourth year with the Cowboys, after being picked up in the 2022 NFL Draft.
He was selected with the 24th overall pick.
The 24-year-old was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in his first season, before being selected to the Pro Bowl in 2023 and 2024.
This news comes on the back of Parsons’ controversial departure from Dallas.
The linebacker’s contract talks stalled with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones before he made the move to Green Bay.
In the offseason, Parsons made it clear he wanted a $200 million contract.
Jones believed he had a deal with the 26-year-old, but Parsons’ agent said the Cowboys refused to negotiate with him.
In the end, the former defensive rookie of the year sat out preseason, trying to force a trade.
And that is exactly what he got with a move to Wisconsin.
