SHEDEUR Sanders reportedly informed the Baltimore Ravens not to select him in the 2025 NFL Draft due to the presence of Lamar Jackson.
The Ravens had planned to select the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders in the fifth round.
Shedeur experienced a draft slide that saw him finally get selected with the No. 144 pick by the Cleveland Browns.
However, the 23-year-old’s free-fall could’ve ended just a few selections earlier.
The Ravens were set to take Sanders with the No. 141 pick, but Sanders let it be known that he didn’t want to join the team, per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.
The report added that Sanders didn’t want to go to a destination where “he’d be competing and backing up” Jackson, who’s a two-time NFL MVP and wasn’t going to lose his job in Baltimore in the near future.
The Ravens instead drafted offensive lineman Carson Vinson with their fifth-round pick.
Three picks later, the Browns traded up to take Sanders.
Fans have reacted accordingly to the report, as many have taken issue with a player dictating his home despite not being coveted in the first four rounds of the NFL Draft.
“Did he think a 5th round pick was going to start week 1 on a different team?” one asked.
“This is the arrogance that people will speak on. I don’t agree but he shouldn’t let that be known. Go where you’re wanted,” another said.
“Shedeur is a joke for that,” a third added.
The report came as the Browns were on the road against Baltimore in a matchup of 0-1 teams.
The Ravens went on to claim the blowout 41-17 win.
After the game, Sanders was asked about the report.
“My response is I’m focused on the now,” he said.
