Beloved bookstore to open 30 more stores before end of 2025 after Costco kills off book aisles

A BOOKSTORE will open nearly 30 more stores before the end of 2025 in what will be a second record-breaking growth year for the company.

Barns & Noble suffered more than 15 years of declining store numbers, according to chiefs, but is now on track to open 60 new spots in total in 2025.

The retailer confirmed its bold expansion plans back in February, and partially credited the rise of TikTok for its renewed success.

Barnes & Noble confirmed in a statement recently that their business is booming.

The company said: “It’s an exciting time for us.

“Sales in the new stores with their new design and format are exceeding our forecasts, people are lining up around the block for openings and with a strong Fall publishing we expect a great Holiday season.”

BARNES BID

Barnes & Noble recently put in a $3.25 million bid for the 174-year-old company Books Inc.

This is a brick-and-mortar bookstore chain located in the Bay Area of California.

Books Inc. recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and has asked the court for approval to be bought by BI Acquisition Co., LLC, an affiliate of Barnes & Noble.

If the deal were to go through, Books Inc. would keep its brand name and continue to operate its nine open stores.

Seven of these locations can be found in the Bay Area neighborhood, and the remaining two are in San Francisco International Airport.

Books Inc. has cited many reasons for its fall into bankruptcy, including increased operating costs and a change in consumer spending trends related to the pandemic.

Factors like these led to a major revenue loss at the company.
