Tight end Gronk and star quarterback Brady formed a destructive duo in Foxboro, winning four Super Bowl rings together.
They teamed up against in Tampa Bay after Brady’s surprise move to the Buccaneers in 2020.
And Brady made sure his old pal got paid – despite having already booked a place as the NFC’s No. 2 seed.
Gronk went into the final game of the 2021 season closing in on a huge incentive bonus.
The tight end was due $500,000 if he bagged 85 receiving yards in the Week 17 matchup.
And he would score another $500,000 for achieving seven total receptions.
Brady and Co had one eye on the postseason and their starters were mostly benched.
But the legendary quarterback refused to come out of the game after peppering Gronk with targets.
He was able to find Gronkowski on a short completion with just minutes left to land the 36-year-old a monster seven-figure payout.
The pair – now colleagues on Fox – joked about the incident during a segment on NFL Sunday last weekend.
“I do know something about forcing a ball to a receiver with a hefty incentive,” Brady quipped, discussing the Philadelphia Eagles use of receiver AJ Brown.
“My guy, I had to get you one catch for a million bucks,” he smiled, turning to Gronk beside him.
“I still appreciate it to this day,” replied the tight end with a huge grin.
“It’s dinner on me tonight.”
“And that was a beautiful one yard throw, I’ve got to say,” laughed colleague Terry Bradshaw.
Brady and Gronk are set to team up again on the gridiron next year.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion will return to the football field on March 21, 2026, as part of the Fanatics Flag Football Classic.
The competitive flag football tournament will take place during Riyadh Season in Saudi Arabia.
Brady will join several active NFL stars, including Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey and CeeDee Lamb – as well as his old pal Gronk.
