More than 10 cars were damaged in Samut Prakan when a truck, started with its gear engaged, lurched forward and triggered a chain-reaction crash.
The incident, caught on video and widely shared on TikTok by user @jikkosanfa, unfolded outside a residential building where vehicles had been parked in tight rows. The footage, captioned “A reminder from the housing community, unsure what happened #carcrash #allhit #parking #accidentscanhappenatanymoment,” quickly went viral, sparking debate online about parking safety and negligence.
In the clip, cars are seen parked closely together on both sides of the building. Due to the cramped layout, some vehicles were left with their handbrakes released and gears disengaged to allow manual moving if needed. However, disaster struck when the truck suddenly lurched forward after being started with the gear left engaged, crashing directly into the car in front.

The impact set off a domino effect as one car after another was shoved forward, resulting in a chain reaction that left more than 10 vehicles scraped, dented or displaced. At one point, a car was pushed completely out of its parking spot, adding to the chaos.
The truck’s driver, realising the unfolding damage, attempted to push one of the cars back by hand in a desperate bid to minimise the destruction. His efforts, however, nearly placed him in harm’s way, as the moving vehicles posed serious risks of injury.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but the damage to the vehicles involved is being assessed. Residents of the housing complex have since expressed concerns about unsafe parking practices and the risks created by leaving cars unsecured, reported KhaoSod.
The video has become a cautionary tale on social media, with many users reminding drivers to double-check their gears and handbrakes before leaving or starting a vehicle. One viewer commented that “a two-second check could have prevented a 10-car pile-up.”
Police have yet to confirm whether any legal action will be taken, but the incident stands as a stark warning about the dangers of carelessness in crowded car parks.
