Kareem Hunt facing NFL punishment for ‘obscene’ celebration gesture after Chiefs touchdown against Giants

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS ace Kareem Hunt is facing punishment from the NFL over a controversial celebration.

Hunt, 30, helped the Chiefs win their first game of the season after Sunday’s 22-9 victory over the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

The running back scored a touchdown for Kansas City and ran to the end zone.

That is where he performed a celebration that led to a flag by the referee.

The ex-Cleveland Browns ace was deemed to have produced an unsportsmanlike gesture.

Hunt appeared to be doing a throat-slashing move after his touchdown and now faces a fine.

Chiefs fans found that the Ohio native was treated a little too harshly.

One fan tweeted: “I understand Kareem Hunt shouldn’t have done that but holy smokes man.”

Another posted: “Who did that celebration trigger?”

A third wrote: “Did they really just say Kareem Hunt got a flag for doing a slash on his celebration?”

This fan joked: “Just think of all the kids who are now traumatized after seeing Kareem Hunt’s TD celebration!”

And that one quipped: “Quick, cut to alcohol and gambling commercials.”

Nevertheless, the NFL rulebook states that an unsportsmanlike penalty could result in a $14,491 fine if it’s the first account for the player involved.
