THE father of Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier has died.

Bobby Grier, a longtime executive in the NFL, died at the age of 82.

Bobby spent much of his time as an executive for the New England Patriots and Houston Texans before joining the Miami Dolphins as a consultant.

His career as a coach and executive started in 1966.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Bobby Grier, father of general manager Chris Grier,” theDolphins posted on X.

“Bobby was a longtime executive for the Patriots and Texans and a former consultant for the Dolphins.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Grier family.”

Grier started his career as an assistant coach for the Patriots in 1981.

He moved around various roles with the team until 1993, when he was named director of pro scouting.

Grier held that role until 1995, when he was promoted to director of player personnel.

In 1997 he was promoted to vice president of player personnel, where he stayed until 2000.

In one of his last actions as an executive for the Patriots, Grier was part of the the NFL Draft where New England selected Tom Brady.

After that, he departed the team in favor of the Texans, where he served as associate director of pro scouting from 2000 to 2012.

Grier joined the Dolphins in 2017, where he consulted for his son, Chris, until his death.

Bobby leaves behind a great legacy in the form of his two sons, Chris and Mike.

Chris is the Dolphins general manager, and has been since 2016.

Mike is the general manager for the NHL‘s San Jose Sharks.

He was also one of the most accomplished black players in NHL history.

Mike was the first black general manager in NHL history.

Neither Mike nor Chris have publicly commented on their father’s death.
