The episode premiered its new game, The Lion’s Share, which is a partnership with BetMGM.

On the episode, contestant Marian joined host Drew Carey on stage to become the first person to play the new game.

She entered into a chamber and guessed the prices of all five items correctly.

The household items included a toaster, whisk and more.

She was then able to pick five balls in the chamber, which floated around her.

After choosing, the contestant then chose the ball number she wanted to play from a digital screen.

Marian ended up winning a $14,419 trip to Tokyo, a hot tub worth $11,421, $2,000 cash from two balls and two guitars worth $5,250.

She won a total of $33,090.

RIGHT PICK?

But fans weren’t impressed with the new game, as one wrote on Reddit, “The ball wind booth was silly but made for a fun game. Prizes seem really good!

“Not sure what the whole ‘Sponsored by MGM Grand’ disclaimer was about. Could this be a temporary game?”

A second commented, “Sponsored games sound like the death of the show. This game was way too complex.”

A third penned, “Idk if I trust the digital screen giving out the prizes either.”

A fourth said, “I thought the same about the digital screen. They could 100% choose any prize they want and show it on the screen.

“The prizes should have been on little pieces of paper inside the balls she chose.”

The Price is Right Hosts

The Price is Right first came on TV in 1972. Fans fell in love with the game show so much that it has been on for over 50 years. Throughout that time, the show has had a few different hosts. Find out who they are below.

Bob Barker – 1972 to June 2007 (also became executive producer in 1988)

Drew Carey – October 2007 to present

Dennis James – filled in for Bob in 1974 when he missed four episodes, also hosted the nighttime version

Craig Ferguson – 2014 April Fools Day Special

A fifth wrote, “Horrendous game all around. Too long, too easy, too luck based, and on top of that, sponsored by a gambling app. Hopefully that was the last time.”

But the game isn’t the only change the show has made for the new season.

The show also announced a new showrunner ahead of Season 54.

John Quinn joined the game show as the executive producer and showrunner.
