Tiffany Haddish urges pal Jimmy Kimmel to ‘SUE’ Disney and not return to ABC as network brings back host’s talk show

TIFFANY Haddish has urged her close friend, Jimmy Kimmel, to ‘SUE’ Disney and not return to ABC in an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun as the network brings back the host’s show.

The comedian was a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in August and has a long history of being a part of the late-night talk show throughout the famous pair’s long-standing friendship.

On Sunday, just hours before Disney announced that they were bringing back Jimmy Kimmel Live! following the shocking move of temporarily shutting it down, Tiffany urged him NOT to return to the network.

“I hope Jimmy goes ahead and activates his website and does a dang paywall and everybody gotta pay to watch,” the Girl’s Trip actress told The U.S. Sun.

When pressed on if that means she doesn’t think Jimmy, 57, should return to ABC, Tiffany didn’t mince her words, exclaiming: “I think he should sue the s**t out of Disney!

“But what does it matter what I think? I’m not that powerful, I’m just popular.”

Tiffany, 45, who was celebrating her peers at the Daytime Beauty Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, also gave insight into how Jimmy had been doing during his abrupt hiatus.

“I definitely checked in with him. He’s going to be OK. He’s got a great support system. He is loved and protected.”

The Emmy-winner then explained that Jimmy’s “punishment” felt “like high school.”

“Remember high school… if the principal or dean didn’t like you, they made life difficult for you,” she said, before adding with a chuckle that she “went to school in the 1900s.”

“They’d suspend you or give you detention for something that didn’t make sense. And a kid was just being a kid.

“And I feel like that’s what’s going on. Always in America, we’ve had freedom of speech,” she said.

Tiffany first appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in 2017 and has maintained a close-knit relationship with the host in the years since.

She has frequently been a guest host on the late-night show when Jimmy takes his annual vacation leave at the end of Summer.

Tiffany’s comments came just hours before the House of Mouse officially reinstated Jimmy’s show following the overwhelming controversy of its hiatus.

SHOCKING MOVE

Following days of backlash and canceled subscriptions, Disney released a statement which read: “Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country.

“It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.

“We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

Jimmy’s show was suspended last Wednesday night following backlash over a controversial monologue he delivered regarding the death of Charlie Kirk.

The decision to pull Jimmy’s show was made just minutes before the crew started taping in the afternoon, The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed.

Current Late-Night Shows

Late-night shows have become a staple on American television, filled with humorous takes on news, interviews with guests, and music performances.

  • Jimmy Kimmel Live, ABC
  • Late Night with Seth Meyers, NBC
  • The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, NBC
  • The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, CBS
  • After Midnight, CBS
  • Watch What Happens Live, Bravo
  • The Daily Show, Comedy Central
  • Real Time with Bill Maher, HBO

The future of the show became uncertain after broadcasting company Nexstar urged its ABC-affiliated stations to stop airing Jimmy Kimmel Live! “for the foreseeable future.”

In a statement, Nexstar said, “Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets.”

Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, criticised Jimmy’s remarks as “offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse.”

He added, “Continuing to give Jimmy a platform is simply not in the public interest at the current time.

“We have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue.”

Following days of silence, Jimmy returned to social media on Tuesday, hours ahead of his show being back on air.

He shared a photo of his good friend, the legendary Norman Lear, who passed away in 2023.

“Missing this guy today,” Jimmy captioned the photo.
