They have already terrorised a major event this year[/caption]

The event takes place at the Bethpage Black golf course in New York.

And Team Europe are out to retain their title from two years ago.

While Team USA are desperate for revenge, with President Donald Trump set to watch on from the sides.

However, those attending the Ryder Cup have been given a stark warning.

That’s because a certain bug is set to make a bold appearance.

Spotted lanternflies often come out to play in the fall around Long Island.

And with the weather finally changing over from summer, they are set to arrive in their masses for the Ryder Cup.

The sex-crazed, crop-hungry insects caused chaos during the US Open.

They often munch flowers and vegetables after hatching in late May.

And after a mating frenzy in the summer, they are now set for one last hurrah before the cold of winter strikes.

Brian Eshenaur, an invasive species specialist at Cornell, reckons there’s just one solution for Ryder Cup fans.

He said: “When somebody sees an insect, we ask them to take a picture first. And then stomp on it.”

The warning comes as players prepare for practice rounds on Wednesday.

Both teams were in fine form yesterday as they joined forces for the official Welcome Dinner.

And players are now waiting to discover their fate in the pairings for Friday.
